ARTICLE XXVII - EMPLOYEE INTEGRITY
1. The Publisher agrees not to require an employee to do, over his or her objections, anything which, reasonably evaluated, would either compromise his or her professional integrity or constitute an abuse of his or her position. Nor will the Publisher require an employee to submit for publication any material which distorts any facts or creates an impression the Publisher knows or reasonably should know to be false. The Publisher further agrees not to use an employee's by-line or credit-line over his or her objections, nor will the by-line or credit-line be used without specific permission when an employee's original story has been substantially altered or changed prior to publication. In cases where the employee is not available for consultation prior to publication, the by-line or credit-line will be omitted.
2. If a non-employee challenges the accuracy of any published material submitted by an employee, the Publisher agrees to, to the extent the circumstances, in his or her judgment, reasonably permits, consult with the employee before publishing any correction or retraction of such material. The Publisher agrees to notify an employee if he or she is mentioned in a "Letter to the Editor" and will, if in the Publisher's judgment it is feasible, publish whatever response by the employee the Publisher may approve.
