ARTICLE XXV - HOLIDAYS
1. The following holidays will be granted to all employees: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Labor Day. The Publisher will attempt to accommodate employees seeking to observe other religious holidays, provided the employee has informed his/her supervisor that he/she wishes to be scheduled off on the holiday at least two (2) weeks before such holiday. Examples of acceptable accommodation may include permitting the employee to switch days off with another willing employee, rescheduling regular days off during the week of the holiday, approving the use of personal or vacation days, permitting an unpaid leave of absence for the day, etc.
2. An employee whose regular day off falls on a holiday will receive an additional day off at another date. In the event a holiday falls during an employee's vacation, he or she will receive another day off.
3. Stipulations covering holidays for part-time employees are included in Article IX "Part-time and Temporary Employees."
4. Employees who have completed one yearâ¤s employment or more with the Publisher as of January 1 of each calendar year shall receive two (2) personal days, annually. Personal days for new employees who have been employed for less than a full calendar year shall be as follows: New employees hired on or before Sept. 30 shall receive two (2) personal days after 12 months of service and those hired on or after Oct. 1 shall receive one (1) personal day after 12 months of service. In no event will an employee receive more than two (2) personal days in any calendar year as a result of the foregoing. Scheduling of these holidays is to be agreed upon by mutual consent between the employee and his or her supervisor.
5. An employee who uses no sick time in a calendar year will be entitled to an additional personal day during the following calendar year.
