ARTICLE XVIII - FUNERAL LEAVE


1. When death occurs in the employee's immediate household or immediate family, namely:

father, mother, sister, brother, husband, wife or children, mother-in-law, father-in-law,

three days maximum, up to and including the day of the funeral, compensation at the

regular rate of pay, for actual time lost from work.

2. An employee shall be allowed up to two (2) consecutive days leave of absence with pay, for the time lost from regularly scheduled work, one day of which shall be the day of the funeral of the following: daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandmother or grandfather and grandchildren. An employee shall be allowed a one (1) day leave of absence with pay for regularly scheduled time lost from work attending the funeral of a brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt or uncle. To claim pay under this paragraph, the employee may be required to provide evidence that he or she actually attended the funeral. Nothing herein shall prohibit the Publisher from granting additional time off, paid or unpaid, if in the Publisher's sole discretion and judgment, the circumstances permit and warrant.

3. The employee's immediate household includes only persons living at the same address and in a family-type relationship with the employee.
