Kingston News Paper Guild Sponsors Team for
American Cancer Society May Fundraiser
KINGSTON - A team of 14 walkers in the May 3 - 4 American Cancer Society walk will be participating under the banner of the Kingston Newspaper Guild, and with the backing of the union.
The Guild, Local 31180, TNG-CWA, will be feeding the team and keeping them comfortable and fed at the team tent.
Members of the guild have participated in this event for years, with the support of the paper and the community. This year, the Kingston Newspaper Guild wanted to support its members with financial support for the team.
"When Pat Coyne approached guild leadership, about sponsoring the team, it wasn't a question of if we would help but how," said Claude Dixon, Local 31180 president.
"It's a small thing to do, but these folks had been paying for the tent and their meals out of their own pockets," said Jonathan Ment, guild treasurer. "This was a way for us to let them know they represent the best among us, and to make the effort a little less taxing."
Look for the Union-backed team behind the banner bearing the name "Kingston Newspaper Guild" during the first lap, and then at the tent under the same mark.
To support the cause with a donation through the Kingston Newspaper Guild team, call Pat Coyne at the Daily Freeman, one of the fundraiser's primary sponsors (845) 331-5000.
